VenueDog now has a virtual home away from home — MullinsMania.com, a website dedicated to Rome’s music and art scenes.
Thanks to the newly released VenueDog API, MullinsMania now has a custom events calendar that’s got the power of VenueDog but the style of MullinsMania.com.
[For newbies: API is just a term for software that communicates with other software. For example, if you choose to have your Twitter posts show up in your Facebook feed, it’s because the Twitter and Facebook APIs are talking to each other, hanging out, probably grabbing beers and Mexican food later.]
Bryan Mullins, the owner of MullinsMania.com and the Content Specialist here at VenueDog, was tired of posting the same event to both VenueDog and his own website. But after installing the VenueDog API, events added to VenueDog will automatically appear on MullinsMania.com.
Better yet, Mullins can choose which kind of events appear on his site. Since Mullins’ focus is on the music and art scene, only events that are categorized as Music, Nightlife, or Arts and Culture will show up on MullinsMania. (Yard sales are great, but they don’t belong on a music site). Not only are the events relevant to MullinsMania users, but the calendar is styled to seamlessly blend with the rest of the website.
The VenueDog API is the perfect answer for community-related websites that have the need but not the manpower to maintain a comprehensive events calendar.
